Moving in Circles
This work was made between numerous places - Los Angeles, Jingdezhen, China and Calgary, Canada. Objects were made of numerous types of clays, as well as found and bought objects from thrift stores, cheap dollar stores, garden stores, and small scale pottery factories. The parts were collected, made, moved, packed, shipped, epoxied, stacked, broken, fixed, and came together through chance and provisional solutions to problems in the studio, and the process of moving more broadly. The resulting objects hopefully reflect the mobility present in the fragments, the complexity of ceramic production today, and the absurdity of formal hierarchy.
